The main cause of forest fires is careless handling of fire.
In order to prevent the occurrence of forest fires, citizens visiting the forest should follow the following rules:
Do not throw cigarettes, cigarette butts, matches without making sure that they are safely extinguished.
Do not make bonfires in a cluttered place, among thick dry grass, on a dry moss pillow – pre-clean the place for the fire, remove all plant residues from it.
Do not make a large fire among closely spaced shrubs, under the crowns of trees, in dry grass.
In case of strong wind, block the fire from the wind with natural or artificial barriers (upturned clumps of trees, stones, etc.)
With extreme caution, use tree species as fuel, which give a lot of sparks during combustion. Mix these tree species in the fire with others that do not give a lot of sparks.
Make the bonfires compact, in a small area, do not stretch it over an area.
Do not leave the campfire unattended for a long time.
Do not add new long and thick firewood to the fire about half an hour before the final departure from the forest, so that there are no large brands left in the fire, which are difficult to extinguish and which can smolder for a long time without showing external signs.
When leaving the campfire completely, carefully extinguish it. If there is a water source nearby, pour all the large firebrands separately, separating them from the fire and placing them next to it. And pour the fire with the remains of the ashes in addition, stirring it with a stick so that it is better soaked with water. If there is not enough water, bury the fire with earth, pour water on top, dig in the place of the fire (bonfire) with a groove.
